Ph. D from Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (1998) and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden.  Current research interests include: (i) Vibrational spectroscopy, (ii) Surface Enhanced Raman studies on the characterization and analysis of nanoparticles, monolayers and molecules at ultra low concentrations, and at Single Molecule level. (iii) Development of new optical spectroscopic techniques with AI (IV) Nano technology and (v) Renewable sources of energy.
